Hotshots hand Apollos first loss
The Apollos had a shot late, but a penalty killed the final drive and handed Orlando their first loss, 22-17 to the Arizona Hotshots.
With just 0:04 left, a false start penalty on multiple offensive linemen caused a 10-second run-off and ended the game. The Apollos had the ball on the Arizona 8-yard line and looked like they were set to score, but it was not to be.
The offensive line struggled to protect Gilbert for most of the game, and it heavily affected the Apollos quarterback. He completed just 23 of 48 passes for 268 yards. While Gilbert did have two touchdowns, he also threw his first interception of the year. Gilbert also fumbled late in the game.
Next up for the Apollos is a road contest in Atlanta. A rematch of the season opener, the Apollos look to get back to their winning ways against their conference rival. First snap is set for 2 pm, Saturday, March 23rd, and will be broadcast on TNT.
